University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Receives Record Cash Infusion.

Nov. 13--In one of the largest philanthropic contributions in area history, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas has received $50 million in its latest fund-raising campaign.

The donors wished to remain anonymous, UT Southwestern said this week, but "the enthusiastic donor response" from the community has allowed the school to raise the overall goal for the campaign to $500 million.

The campaign -- called Innovations in Medicine -- had initially targeted $450 million to be spent on clinical research and operational improvement. Since the drive's launch in April 2002, the school has raised $301 million.
