Florida Greenway Project to Help Habitat, Military.

Nov. 13--TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--Conservationists, the Pentagon and the Florida Cabinet joined forces Wednesday on a project that supporters say will help fulfill two of the state's priorities: protecting the environment and sustaining military bases.

Creation of the Northwest Florida Greenway, a 100-mile-long swath of 750,000 acres across the Panhandle, will protect what Victoria Tschinkel of The Nature Conservancy called "the epicenter of biodiversity in the United States."

In addition, the greenway follows the flight paths of military aircraft on training exercises, and the U.S. Department of Defense said it would reduce encroachment on Florida bases and...
