Steps to Head Off New Property Bubble Considered in Thailand.

Nov. 15--The government is considering several measures to head off potential unsustainable growth in the property sector, according to Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.

However, the chance of another property "bubble" was still remote, given current demand and supply conditions, Mr Somkid said at a seminar yesterday on the property business.

But the industry still needs better management to avoid a repetition of the mistakes that occurred in the mid-1990s, when a speculative property boom helped contribute to the eventual 1997 economic crisis.
