Watchdog Group to Fight Phone Rate Increases in Florida.

Nov. 21--Government watchdog group Common Cause added its voice Thursday to the debate over phone rate hikes.
Common Cause, which has 9,000 members in Florida, has joined Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist and the AARP in asking state regulators to throw out a proposed rate increase by the state's three largest local phone providers.
"They aren't interested in having their phone rates increased," said Mike Twomey, an attorney representing Common Cause and the AARP.
Twomey, who said he is filing Common Cause's petition to intervene with the Florida Public Service Commission today, has drawn up letters to state legislators about the rate hikes...
