Japan Telecom Co. Names New President.

Nov. 21--TOKYO--Fixed-line carrier Japan Telecom Co. said Friday that Ronald LeMay, former president and chief operating officer of U.S. telecom Sprint Corp., became its president as of Thursday.

The appointment of the 57-year-old American came a week after U.S. investment fund Ripplewood Holdings LLC completed the purchase of Japan Telecom Co. from Japan Telecom Holdings Co., a subsidiary of British mobile service provider Vodafone Group PLC.

LeMay took over from Vodafone's William Morrow, who stepped aside to become an adviser to Japan Telecom Co.

Morrow had been in office since December 2001 and is to return to Vodafone in the near future.
