American Eagle Airline to Cut Jobs at Lawton, Okla., Maintenance Depot.

Nov. 22--LAWTON, Okla. -- American Eagle Airlines will cut 60 jobs and close its Lawton maintenance depot in January, the company announced.

The move was made because American Eagle is phasing out the Saab 340 turboprop planes repaired in Lawton in favor of regional jets.

"Closing our long-standing Lawton maintenance facility was not an easy decision, but several factors were taken into consideration," American Eagle President Peter Bowler said.

"Lawton is in close proximity to (Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport), where we already have Saab capabilities. ... In the end, however, market forces beyond our control are driving these decisions."
