Dec. 6--MITSUBISHI'S LANCER DELIVERS TRACTION, SPEED IN FUN PACKAGE: The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII delivers lots of speed and traction in a festive small package.
Like the Subaru WRX Sti tested earlier this year and the Mazda and Dodge pocket rockets tested recently, the Lancer, or EVO as the car fanatics call it, is a hoot. It's a zippy small car with a turbo booster that puts it nearly in orbit at times.
Like the Subaru, this vehicle comes with all-wheel-drive, which goes a long way toward harnessing its 271-horsepower turbocharged four-banger. The car has so much traction that it's impossible to break loose, even on wet pavement.
