Japan FTC Warns Asahi Breweries against Sales-Promotion Money Discrepancies.

Dec. 8--TOKYO--The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) on Monday warned Asahi Breweries Ltd. over its practice of treating liquor retailers in the same business area differently, saying this violates the Antimonopoly Law.
According to the trade watchdog, Asahi paid higher sales promotion money to a retail company in southern Osaka than to two other companies, although all three operate in the same area and have the same monthly sales of about 10,000 cases of Asahi beer and "happoshu" low-malt beer.
One case contains 24 350-milliliter cans of beer.
