Improvements at Providence, R.I.-Area Port Require Public's Help, Expert Says.

Dec. 9--If Rhode Island's economic development officials want to develop the Quonset Davisville Port and Commerce Park, they need to conduct a public-education campaign, according to a Brown University professor.

Darrell M. West, director of the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown, yesterday presented the results of a public opinion survey to the board of directors of the Quonset industrial park.

The survey, taken over four days in October, asked 424 registered Rhode Island voters their opinions about Quonset and the state's economic development efforts.

The voters were also asked if they would be willing to support a $48-million bond-issue...
