Music Networks Hire Buy.com Spinoff to Operate Online Stores.

Dec. 10--ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--The technology team behind online retailer Buy.com has expanded into music-television land.
BuyServices.com plans to announce today that it has taken over the e-commerce operations for the online stores of MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com. Customers there can buy not just music and movies but also digital music players, karaoke machines and the MTV-branded slider phone.
"We had some DVDs and CDs, but it was just not the robust and comprehensive product line that is appropriate for MTV," said Nusrat Durrani, vice president of e-commerce for MTV Networks Music Group.
