Wilkes-Barre Township, Pa., Wal-Mart Building Remains on Market.

Dec. 17--WILKES-BARRE TWP., Pa.--What will happen with the large, big-box building on Route 309 that Wal-Mart will vacate next spring?

Nothing soon, apparently.

Efforts to sell the current Wal-Mart building apparently have stalled as the nation's leading retailer prepares to close that store and open a 24-hour combination grocery and discount store on Highland Park Boulevard.

A township official remains optimistic the location along a busy business route could attract a tenant by next year.

The discount store plans to open a Wal-Mart Supercenter in April near Wachovia Arena. The current site has been listed for sale for months....
