Harley-Davidson Dealers Offer Sales Promotions to Help Clear Inventory Backlog.

Dec. 19--A year-end clearance sale is something Harley-Davidson dealers normally wouldn't consider. Their bikes usually are snapped up by customers nearly as soon as they hit the showroom floor.

But Harley has launched special financing to help dealers clear out 2003 Sportsters and 2003 V-Rods. The late-model bikes remain available at some dealerships when, in most years, they would have been sold months ago.

There are more 2003s available because Harley produced them for two months longer than a normal 12-month model year, said John Schaller, president of the Harley-Davidson Dealers of Metro Milwaukee.
