Dec. 29--IBM will provide 200 to 300 people to work alongside Aetna's own information technology personnel at three sites, including Middletown, under a new outsourcing arrangement.
Aetna hasn't yet signed a contract, but confirmed Monday that it has chosen IBM for what it calls a five-year "co-sourcing" agreement designed to meet Aetna's growing IT needs and save money.
The IBM workers won't replace existing Aetna employees, said Fred Laberge, a spokesman for the Hartford-based company. The IBM people, he said, will help ensure on-time project delivery, speed the delivery of business results and strengthen Aetna's IT capability.
