Goldman Sachs Tops UK Investors.

Jan. 1--Investment bank Goldman Sachs was top of the City deal-makers in 2003 for the second year running. It advised on UKpound 93 billion worth of deals involving a European company.

But Lazard was the year's fastest climber, jumping from 10th to second in the league table while the value of its deals rose 53 percent to UKpound 71 million.

Morgan Stanley topped the league for purely UK offers. The figures on announced deals come from financial data group Thomson.

They show British companies remain the most popular takeover targets in Europe.
