Jan. 4--PRICEY CAR: Ford has priced the 500-horsepower GT sports car at $139,995, not including the destination charge or gas-guzzler tax, both of which will be announced later. The GT, a street-legal version of Ford's GT40 racecar from the 1960s, goes on sale in the summer. Ford plans to build about 3,500 over a two-year run.
NEW ECLIPSE: Mitsubishi will unveil the Eclipse Concept-E coupe Jan. 5 at the Detroit Auto Show, signaling the styling direction for the next-generation Eclipse. Due in 2005, the new Eclipse will be based on the Galant sedan platform and built in Normal, Ill.
