Jan. 6--EARNINGS, SALES JUMP 20 PERCENT AT SONIC: Sonic Corp. said Monday that fiscal first-quarter earnings rose 20 percent to $12.8 million, or 31 cents per diluted share.
Revenues also rose 20 percent, to $118.7 million, for the period that ended Nov. 30, according to the Oklahoma City-based drive-in restaurant chain.
The company also reported "a significant acceleration in systemwide same-store sales during the quarter, up 5.5 percent for drive-ins open for more than one year and 6.2 percent for drive-ins open more than 15 months -- reflecting the fastest rate of growth in almost two years."
