Blockbuster to Start New DVD Trade-In Program.

Jan. 6--Blockbuster Inc. will begin accepting used DVDs as trades for store credit this year, part of a four-pronged plan outlined by chief executive John Antioco Monday at a analyst conference in Phoenix.

The new trade-in option, which will probably begin midyear, is the byproduct of a different trade offer already used by the Dallas-based movie rental company.

Currently, customers can trade in a used movie and buy a new one for $12.99.

Mr. Antioco discussed the plans at an annual Smith Barney Citigroup entertainment and media conference, but he did not offer earnings guidance for 2004.
