Officials Sue Owner of Two Torrington, Conn., Newspapers over Labor Violations.

Jan. 6--Federal labor officials Monday said they filed suit against the publisher of two Torrington publications, alleging they did not pay reporters, photographers and other employees overtime and the federally mandated minimum wage of at least $5.15 an hour.
The suit was filed last month against by the U.S. Department of Labor against The Journal Register Co. East Inc., which operates The Register Citizen and The Foothills Trader in Torrington. It seeks undisclosed back wages for employees at the two publications dating back to July 21, 2001, as well as damages, fines and other costs.
