Jan. 11--Are you getting less junk in your electronic mailbox?
You should, because a new federal law that took effect 11 days ago imposed tight restrictions on spam. But if your experiences are anything like mine, and millions of other consumers, the law is not having the impact sponsors predicted -- and possibly never will.
The anti-spam law, which is backed by hefty fines for violators, was designed to limit unwanted e-mails by giving consumers the opportunity to opt out of receiving them and to make senders more accountable.
It will be at least a year before the Federal Trade Commission figures how to develop a do-not-spam directory similar...
