Cambridge, Mass.-Based Pharmaceutical Firm Expects Big Sales for Cancer Drug.

Jan. 13--Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc. yesterday said it expects to sell up to $160 million worth of its Velcade cancer drug this year, nearly three times its 2003 sales, and said layoffs and restructuring moves made last year will help it reach profitability by 2006 before certain costs.
The Cambridge company also expects to surpass its previous guidance that it would have revenue of $420 million in 2003, a net loss of $535 million for the year, and a loss of $290 million excluding certain costs. Millennium made the announcements at a healthcare investor conference in San Francisco.
