Jan. 14--BOSTON ADVERTISING AGENCY PURCHASES SOUTH CAROLINA FIRM: Boston advertising agency Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos Inc. said it acquired South Carolina's largest ad firm, Erwin-Penland Inc., which will continue to operate under its own name, retaining its employees and clients, including Verizon Wireless, Michelin North America, and BMW. Between Hill, Holliday and Erwin-Penland, the agencies will handle Verizon Wireless's retail advertising in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, and Southwest. Financial terms were not disclosed.
