Bank of America, FleetBoston Questioned on Commitment to Community Loans.

Jan. 15--Community activists and politicians packed a hearing in Boston Wednesday, raising concerns about how committed the merged FleetBoston-Bank of America would be to community reinvestment.
But Hartford merchant Ramon Flores traveled 100 miles to bring the Federal Reserve another message: Fleet is a big reason his grocery store on Park Street is in business today.
He got his first loan at Fleet. He learned about computers through a program that Fleet and a community group sponsored. And when he needed a line of credit recently, he got it. "Without them, I wouldn't be here," Flores said after testifying.
