Aircraft Parts Maker Hamilton Sundstrand May Face Pentagon Criminal Probe.

Jan. 16--WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon Inspector General reportedly is considering a criminal probe into Hamilton Sundstrand's billing practices after an audit found the company gave "inaccurate and misleading" data that led the military to overpay for aircraft spare parts.

According to the executive summary of the audit, the inspector general's team looked at 35 sole-source orders placed with a distributor for Hamilton Sundstrand between March 1999 and August 2002.

During that period, more than 300 orders for Hamilton-built parts were handled by the exclusive distributor, AAR Defense Systems of Dale, Ill.
