'Phishing' Problem Is Still Bugging Microsoft.

Jan. 16--Are the bad guys phishing while Microsoft's out to lunch?

Despite the discovery last month of an Internet Explorer bug that expedites Web site spoofing, or phishing, security experts wonder why Microsoft still hasn't issued a fix.

The browser is so deeply entwined with the Windows XP operating system that the company doesn't want to risk creating more problems than it solves. "Microsoft will only release a patch, when warranted, that is well-engineered and as thoroughly tested as possible, whether that is a day, week, month or longer," a company spokeswoman said.
