Jan. 16--Kirk Pond, the chairman and chief executive officer of Fairchild Semiconductor, doesn't exactly have the ear of Alan Greenspan. But as a new director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Pond does have the ear of an important Greenspan adviser.
He's one of three industry representatives who, along with six New England bankers, advise the Boston Fed and its president, Cathy Minehan. She, in turn, helps set monetary policy for the nation along with Greenspan, the chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.
