Mars Landing, Bush Directive Give NASA New Momentum, Boost In Morale.

Jan. 16--Six wheels slowly rolled into the dust of Mars early Thursday morning, marking another milestone on the charmed mission of the Spirit rover.
Meanwhile, millions of miles away, the agency that made those baby steps possible was still celebrating a more earthly success: President Bush's call Wednesday to reinvigorate the manned space exploration program. If (emphasis on "if") Bush's plan becomes a reality, astronauts could be setting up shop on the moon within two decades and walking in Spirit's tracks sometime after 2030.
