Supporters Like What They Hear for Cypress Gardens.

Jan. 16--WINTER HAVEN -- When it was over, Kent Buescher, a man on the cusp of reopening Cypress Gardens, stood humbled before a standing ovation and promised to restore the 67-year-old attraction to its former glory.

Buescher traveled Thursday to Polk County to share his plans with the community and to allay brewing concerns over his vision to add roller coasters and other rides to the landmark known for water-ski shows and tranquil gardens.

"It is our goal, pledge and promise to preserve that heritage," said Buescher, owner of the Wild Adventures theme park in Valdosta, Ga., who expressed his interest in Cypress Gardens shortly after it closed...
