Citing Weak Sales, OfficeMax to Close Store in State College, Pa.

Jan. 22--STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- OfficeMax, a nationwide office supply retailer that opened in a new East College Avenue strip mall five years ago, will close at the end of February because of weak sales, a spokesman said Tuesday.
The OfficeMax store next to the Giant supermarket at 2252 East College Ave. is one of 45 stores in the company's 1,000-store chain marked to close, said Bill Bonner, manager of marketing communications for Boise Office Solutions.
"We didn't feel these stores have reached the potential we needed," Bonner said. He refused to provide specific sales data.
