Nevada Utilities Panel to Rule on Interim 5.5 Percent Gas-Rate Increase.

Jan. 23--Participants in a Southwest Gas Corp. rate increase case agreed Thursday to recommend an interim 5.5 percent increase in rates, possibly by Feb. 1, pending a decision in the rate case.
If approved by the Public Utilities Commission, the agreement would raise the average monthly bill for Southern Nevada residential customers to $35.80 from $33.94, said Ed Gieseking, director of pricing and tariffs for Southwest Gas. The rate increase would become effective Feb. 1 or later if the PUC agrees to the adjustment after that date.
