Feb. 5--Consumers across America think of Napa Valley when California wine is discussed -- but most of the state's wine is made in the San Joaquin Valley.
A list of the 30 biggest U.S. wine producers in the February issue of Wine Business Monthly, a trade magazine, drives home the point.
At the top of the list is E. & J. Gallo Winery, with production facilities in Modesto, Livingston and Fresno, as well as Sonoma and Napa. Gallo sells 75 million cases of wine a year in the United States, according to the magazine.
