Feb. 8--WASHINGTON -- Senator John F. Kerry steamrolled his opponents once more yesterday, winning caucuses in Michigan and Washington state by wide margins as his rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination scrambled to gain footing in states that could effectively determine their fates over the next 10 days.
Howard Dean -- yet to win a single primary -- suffered a further blow as a major labor union withdrew its endorsement. Gerald McEntee, head of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, announced the decision to drop the former leader in the polls during a strategy session with the Dean campaign in Vermont.
