Pentagon Told to Review Need for Comanche, F/A-22 Jet.

Feb. 11--WASHINGTON -- The White House has ordered the Pentagon to review the need for two expensive weapons systems important to Connecticut contractors -- the Comanche scout helicopter and the F/A-22 Raptor fighter jet.

In a memo circulating this week, the Office of Management and Budget directs the secretary of defense to commission "an independent, in-depth study" of both programs to determine how they fit with the 21st-century military, how well each is meeting its goals and whether they require resources that could be better used for other programs.
