Fleet Credit Card Services Clients Are Targets of Web Scam.

Feb. 13--A spokeswoman for Fleet Credit Card Services said Thursday that the company has shut down a Web site designed to gather private information about its customers.

"It is fraudulent. It is not ours," said Deborah J. Pulver, director of communications for the bank's credit card division.

The Connecticut Post contacted FleetBoston on Thursday to ask about an e-mail that purported to come from the bank. The e-mail's "from" and "reply to" lines read "Fleet Bank users-support13@fleet.com." The bank's name and logo were in the e-mail.
