Feb. 12--FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- A new owner means another chance for one of Fort Wayne's oldest companies.
Valbruna Corp., the U.S. subsidiary of an Italy-based steel company, was the winning bidder for Slater Steel's Fort Wayne works at a Wednesday auction in Chicago.
The high bid of $6.4 million topped the two other contenders -- Arlington Capital, a Fort Wayne-based investment group, and Universal Stainless Alloy Products Inc. of Bridgeville, Pa.
U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware is expected to approve the sale.
Unlike last year's buyer of Fort Wayne's Tokheim Corp., Valbruna is expected to resume production at the mill at 2400 W. Taylor St. In...
