Experian Credits Orange County, Calif., for Handling Big-Ticket Charging.

Feb. 16--When it comes to debts and credit-card spending, Orange County residents aren't doing badly, according to a new national credit-score rating system created by Experian.
The National Score Index, based on thousands of sources of data collected by Costa Mesa-based Experian, compares average credit scores by area, state, region and the United States as a whole.
Locally, "residents utilize quite a bit of credit because of the cost of living; however, the overall creditworthiness in Orange County is pretty good," Experian Vice President Charles Chung said. In other words, we charge a lot, but we pay our bills.
