Milwaukee Building to Be Transformed into Coffee Chain's Cafe, Offices.

Feb. 17--A long-vacant building in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood would be converted into an Alterra Coffee Roasters cafe and a wholesale bakery to serve the local Alterra chain, under a plan announced Monday.

Portions of the 33,000-square-foot building at 2941-2955 N. Humboldt Blvd. also would be used for office and warehouse space for Alterra, with additional space leased out for other uses, said Lincoln Fowler, an Alterra co-owner.

Fowler and his Alterra partners, Ward Fowler and Paul Miller, have agreed to buy the building from the city for $125,000. If they complete their purchase, the building's redevelopment could be completed by the end of 2004...
