American Meter's Manufacturer to Close Factory in Erie, Pa.

Feb. 18--The lunchtime rush lasted less than a minute at Bobango's Bullpen -- the eastside bar nestled behind the back door of American Meter Co.'s factory.
During American Meter's heyday in the 1980s, noontime meant crowds of 60 to 70 hungry workers who crowded into Bobango's for hot lunches on plates loaded with meat, potatoes and vegetables.
But on Tuesday, its lunch business consisted of Ken Berg, who walked to Bobango's from American Meter, picked up a sandwich in a brown paper bag from a bartender and headed back to the plant.
