Feb. 23--PUBLIX PLANS TO CARRY OLD KASH SITE: Publix Super Markets is planning an "aggressive" opening this summer at the site of the former Kash n' Karry in Fort Pierce.
The Lakeland-based chain plans to gut the 31,000-square-foot store soon, said Publix spokeswoman Maria Rodamis.
Tampa-based Kash n' Karry announced last month it would close 34 stores, including the stores at 1851 U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce and at 2806 Port St. Lucie Blvd. in Port St. Lucie, in order to concentrate its resources on the state's west coast.
Publix also operates a supermarket at 2517 U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce.
