Possible Comcast-Disney Merger Could Take Golf Channel to Next Level.

Feb. 23--Like the sport it covers, The Golf Channel isn't for everybody.

The Orlando-based cable-television network caters to wealthy, middle-aged golf lovers with a smorgasbord of tournaments, insider commentary and feature programming for those who savor the sport.

Although The Golf Channel's reach has grown steadily since its launch in early 1995, it remains the private country club of TV sports. Most of its viewers have college degrees and annual household incomes in excess of $70,000. For advertisers looking for a pipeline to the affluent, there are few televised outlets better than The Golf Channel.
