Nevada Court Rules against Consumer Advocate over Telecommunications Practices.

Feb. 26--CARSON CITY, Nev. -- A panel of the Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that a lower court properly denied an effort by the state consumer advocate to stop a telecommunications company from engaging in allegedly deceptive trade practices.

The Supreme Court case involved NOS Communications and Affinity Networks, and efforts by State Consumer Advocate Tim Hay to halt what he said were misleading statements to consumers.

Also Wednesday, the PUC voted 3-0 to close an inquiry into NOS and affiliated companies after hearing a staff report that the regulatory body had no evidence the companies were engaged in deceptive marketing, advertising and billing.
