Feb. 26--Imagine if the local 911 emergency system suddenly stopped working.

Or if someone targeted your business to steal trade secrets or promote terrorism.

Jim Goodlett, director of emerging technologies for VeriSign Inc., a telecommunication services company in Savannah, offered these scenarios Tuesday to illustrate the havoc computer hackers could wreak.

Goodlett sits on the local board of directors of InfraGard. The group is a voluntary association that encourages members to share information about security problems their companies or organizations are experiencing.
