Connecticut's Sen. Lieberman Criticizes Plan to Increase Electricity Prices.

Feb. 27--U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman on Thursday objected to a plan that would impose higher costs on Connecticut electricity customers to spur new power plant construction in the state.

In a letter to Gordon van Welie, chief executive of the regional power grid operator ISO New England, Lieberman said the new plan would reward existing power plants without creating an incentive to build more.

He also said the additional costs would come on top of other costs imposed on Connecticut customers last year when a new wholesale electricity pricing system began in New England.
