Dallas-Based Vought Aircraft Industries Inc. Announces Growth Plans.

Feb. 27--Vought Aircraft Industries Inc. told cheering workers Thursday that the Dallas-based company plans to add 3,000 jobs to its local workforce, a move supported by more than $250 million in financial investments.

The moves are a reversal for the largest private maker of wings, fuselages and other aircraft parts in the United States. In recent years, the company has been downsizing.

"The prolonged and dramatic downturn in the airline industry has been extremely challenging," Tom Risley, Vought's president and chief executive, told a crowd of thousands packed in to hear about their future. "To be successful, we must address our excess capacity issues."...
