'You Can Bank on Burt,' New Boss of Britain's ITV Tells Investors.

Feb. 25--ITV has ended the long wait for its new chairman by appointing Sir Peter Burt, the former Bank of Scotland supremo.
Burt, 59, beat off competition from Tesco chairman John Gardiner. The job at the new company, formed from the merger of Carlton and Granada, has been vacant since Carlton boss Michael Green was ousted in October after a shareholder coup led by Anthony Bolton of Fidelity.
Interim chairman Sir Brian Pitman embarked on an unprecedented charm offensive yesterday to win investors" approval for Burt's appointment. He made a personal tour of the City to inform powerful fund managers, including Bolton.
