The Hartford Acknowledges SEC Probe of Financial Giant's Funds.

Feb. 28--The Hartford reported Friday that the Securities and Exchange Commission recently finished an on-site probe of its mutual funds and annuity operations, though no enforcement action to date has been taken against the company.

However, The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. noted that "It is possible that one or more regulatory agencies may pursue action against the company in the future." The disclosure was made in an annual 10K filing with the SEC, and the company declined to comment further. The company's Hartford Life unit, based in Simsbury, is a leader in the sale of variable annuities.
