Governor Urges Military to Give New Work to Bridgeport, Conn., Sikorsky Plant.

Feb. 28--WASHINGTON -- Acknowledging it will be difficult to reverse the Army's cancellation of the Comanche helicopter, Gov. John G. Rowland said Friday he will focus on convincing the military to take advantage of Sikorsky's new plant in Bridgeport.

Earlier in the day, Rowland met at the Pentagon with Les Brownlee, acting secretary of the Army, to talk about this week's announcement and explore opportunities to bring new work to the Sikorsky Aircraft plant.

The remodeled manufacturing space at the Bridgeport Sikorsky plant opened last year, intending to handle assembly of the joint Sikorsky-Boeing Comanche and Sikorsky's new S-92 helicopter. But...
