Connecticut Lawmakers Urge United Technologies CEO to Postpone Job Cuts.

Mar. 5--WASHINGTON -- Connecticut lawmakers Thursday pressed the chairman of Sikorsky Aircraft's parent company to postpone job cuts tied to the Army's cancellation of the Comanche helicopter until Sikorsky learns whether it will build the next-generation presidential helicopter.

They did not get the specific commitment they sought from George David, chairman and chief executive of United Technologies Corp. They did get David's assurance that winning the hotly contested contract for the next Marine One this spring would greatly reduce any job cuts at Stratford-based Sikorsky.
