Northern Indiana Public Service Co. Holds Natural-Gas Prices Steady.

Mar. 5--Northern Indiana Public Service Co. customers saw only small increases in the price of natural gas this winter, following action by state regulators which forced the utility to change its pricing practices.

Increases this winter totaled about 11 percent, compared to increases in the 2002-03 heating season that doubled the price of natural gas and caused customer bills to soar.

"We are certainly pleased to see that NIPSCO's efforts to manage price volatility have improved and that NIPSCO's customers are benefiting as a result," said Anthony Dzwonar, a state Office of Utility Consumer Counselor spokesman.
