Virginia Natural Gas Unit Buys Chesapeake, Va., Site for Propane Storage.

Mar. 6--CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- A Virginia Natural Gas affiliate has acquired a 52.7-acre waterfront site on the Elizabeth River's Southern Branch for a new propane storage facility.
Pivotal Propane of Virginia Inc. plans to spend about $30 million at the former site of the Smith-Douglass fertilizer plant. The facility will be just south of the Gilmerton Bridge, which carries Military Highway across the river, said Warren Harris, Chesapeake's economic development director.
Pivotal Propane of Virginia Inc. paid Steuart Investment Co. $3.25 million for the site, Thalhimer/Cushman & Wakefield announced Friday.
