New Massachusetts Tunnel Helps Cut Commuting Time.

Mar. 8--Since the December opening of the southbound Big Dig tunnel, motorists from north of the city have shaved an average of 15 minutes off their commute.
Cars still bunch up at certain spots on I-93, but the 11-mile trip from Route 128 to the FleetCenter has been cut from an average of 40 minutes to 25, according to Smart Route Systems Inc., an independent traffic monitoring firm.
"I have seen an improvement in traffic flow," said commuter Kevin Medeiros of Wilmington. "Before, you'd be sitting there for God knows how long. Now it pretty much moves." Map: The southbound commute Survey: How has Big Dig affected your drive?
